i LOVE my o4 650 v twin!!!!!!!!! i use it for farming and hunting mostly and for that it works great!!!! the mrp rack systemis very usful!!!! i have taken it trail riding once and other than the fact it is a big, stalky machine it was great, evan got to tow my bro' in law's 500 scrambler back to the parking lot because he snapped an axle. i don't have any cons, but have you seen the 05 models

Pros: Power, Ground Clearance, Power, Ride is second to none, did I mention Power?
Seriously this machine rocks and I love mine.
Cons: You will need to spend a few bucks on the clutch because they're not setup that great from the factory despite what the dealer may tell you. Most guys are pulling a shim out of the primary to tighten up the belt and going with different springs in the primary and Secondary. (P700 spring in the primary and the EPI Black spring in the secondary seems to be the most popular middle of the road combo) I did the shim and spring thing in both mine and my brothers bikes. Not a very difficult or expensive mod and the results are an even better bike than the one you test drove at the dealership.
Depending on what type of riding you do the stockers are, well they're stockers! I put 27" mud bugs on mine and they kick.
Theres also a whole slew of performance mods available for this bike as the big twin has alot more available oomph under the hood that what it comes with from the factory. (holeshot modules, intake mod kits. etc.)
Bottom line, all bikes have cons. I think the 650's cons are minor and once addressed its probably one of the best big bores out there. IMO.
Hope this helps.

Mistango,
What is the intake mod. I've already done an EPI pro clutch, Dyna CDI, external headlights (Piaa 540) and reverse light (KC 55w flood) and some 26in mudlites on 6 series rims. The best performance increase was from the Dyna CDI which really woke up the engine. The Mudlites made the ATV handle like a whole different ATV and this was a good thing because the orig tires felt like riding on a bag of marshmellows. I know the P650 ran larger jetting and I suspected that this was because the intake flowed better. Is this what the mod is for? To open up the restrictions in the intake? I've herd that opening up the intake and running 03 P650 jetting will get you another 15% more HP. Don't know if this is true though.
Spend the extra money for the Winch. My 650LE came with a 2500lb warn winch and trust me, it comes in usefull. I don't need it often but when I do it would of been worth $1000. It's a very capable off road machine and if it gets stuck there isn't another ATV on the market that wouldn't, so chances are the only machine availiable to pull you out will be your own. Get that winch!!
Rich.

i just bought my 650 last month and already have one 150 miles on it. i ride mine exclusively on trails and have had no problems. My machine is completely stock except for a 2500lb winch that was included in my purchase. I got my quad for $7400.00 out the door including the winch. i have been told that i got a great deal. As far as the stock tires go, i personally really like them. They work well in the water and mud and i love them on the trail cause you can really slide the rear end around on the tight turns and they are great for jumping woops!!!!! my tranny shifts smoothly and so far i have not needed to do any modifications whatsoever to the machine. I also own a grizzly 660 that my wife drives now and the arctic cat out performs it in every category in my opinion. Anyway hope this helps you out and good luck on whatever machine you decide to choose
as far as cons go i can't say a bad word about the 650 so far and i would not hesitate to buy another one.
