Default Sportsman 600 differences between 2004/2004.5

Greetings all,

I'm looking to buy a 600. The seller says it is a 2004.5 that he bought in November 2003.

What are the differences between a 2004 and a 2004.5? When did the 2004.5 become available?

Thanks for any information,

Roger

I think the fuel guage and something with the shifter I think they added a park feature. Just go with the 04.5 its newer and up to date. Thats what I did anyway

Different carb jetting with a new slide spring. This is an update that all 02,03 and early 04's should get. You will be running lean otherwise.

The 2004.5 also has centrally locking front hubs, a different shift pattern, and an improved cooling system.

He means no more locking hubs and hub fluid at front wheels, now traction is divided or locked at center differential, shift pattern is inline, and fuel gauge is in pod, even if not very accurate.

I have an 04 600. I bought it in April of 04. It has centrally locking front hubs, inline shifter and the Rawhide tires. The 04.5's came out a a few months after I bought mine. Manufactor date on the sticker was Jan. of 04. I've had no trouble at all out of this machine. It is great.

Yeh it was the 500 that went to the inline shifter and the centralized hilliard on the 04.5 model.....
