Default rincon problem

I have a 2003 Rincon. After I ride it for a while and turn the key off. Ill turn it back on and it shows two dashes "- -". It wont start when this is showing. I have to wait a while before it will show "N". Then it will start. Whats going on? I have ten days left on my warranty.

no idea, but go ahead and take it to the dealer and have them check it out, that way, it will still be under warranty

It is most likely one of the dianostic codes not sure what the codes are but I know someone around here knows. Just keep this thread near the top of the list so people can see it and give you some help.

Default rincon problem

whywheeler

I was riding through water one day when a large stick came up through the frame and cut my ESP control wires. My display started blinking a code so i looked and found the wires and spliced them. Anyhow once in a while it blinks so i wiggle the plugs (located in front of engine by the dip stick, 2 plugs) then it works again.

I will have to replace them soon
Hope this helps sounds like it could be loose plug

You need to re-initialize the system to see if the problem comes back. If it does come back read the code and see where the problem is. Some times they just need to be re-initialize. More than likely that is the first thing the Honda place will do. It tells you how in the service manual. Down and dirty it is like this.

1- Get the ATV warmed up
2- Stop put in ESP
3- Ride forward at least 5 feet and stop
4- Turn ATV off
5- With ATV off push the UP/Down shift puttons at the same time. While holding both buttons turn key to on position.
6- As soon as the key is in the on position release both up and down shift buttons at the same time
7- Then push the up shift button and release
8- Then push the down shift button and release
9- Then push the up shift button and release
10- Then push gas full open and release.

You have about 5 seconds to get all this done.

Later.
