Battery junk???
#1
The battery in my 03 500i goes dead after about 3 days whether I ride or not. I can run for days on end if the battery has charge or not so Im figuring the battery is toast. The gear indicators also dim when I use the brakes. Sounds like battery to me anyway. Would a new battery be covered under my 2 year warranty or not?

Yup sounds like the battery is toast, you can tell if the battery is on it's last limb when the acid levels are down and the sides of the battery are puffy, and it's unable to keep it's charge. The warranty will cover the battery but the warranty will not cover other things like the tires going flat..ect that is my 2 cents...

no, a battery isn't a warranty item. Its a normal wear and tear item. If its not kept full of water and it wasn't setup right in the first place they won't last long. I would do a quick check to make sure you don't have a load discharging your battery and that your charging system is working properly.

My dad is on his origional battery in his 2000 Arctic Cat 500. He has the same problem of it going dead, turns out, it just gets low on water really fast. Try adding distilled water, charging it up, and then see how it does. He has to do this about once a year, but the batter still keeps on going.

yeah, did you put any water in it? I generally do that every time I charge a battery. But it could be too far gone to even matter. Wal Mart will sell a battery for it if nothing else.

A battery that loses water very fast, as in boils the water out(it's not really boiling, only looks like); means the charging system is overchaging. Usually means regulator is bad, but not always. Other than over charging there is nothing that will make a battery go dry, except for a leak.
