Well i was just wondering if ,or how often the cover warps so it starts to rub on the clutch . is this a common problem ????

 

Never had that happen to mine. Is the air intake to the clutch clogged anywhere? Comes in from the right side cover just below the tank. Sounds like that may be the problem, and the heat is building up. If you ride double, make sure someone isn't using the cover as a footrest.

 

I had that happen on a sp500. I was told it was a result of heat build-up.It happened to mine after about 3000 miles.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

when using LOW range when you should you cut the temps in the cluch cover by over 1oo degrees so if you use high range when you shouldnt that could be a problem....but who knows...

 

This is pretty common for the Trail Boss....and other models that used the same clutch cover for years prior to the '02 TB redesign. I just replaced my wife's '00 TB clutch cover with the beefier '02 model. What's cool is that it's $10 cheaper. You'll need to come up with something to neck up from the 2" vent tube to the 2-7/8" intake on the '02 model cover, though.
