Default Is Vinson decent in mud ???

How do you Vinson owners like your vinson ?
I know it has no locker but does it do a decent job in the mud? Is the limited slip
good enough to get you through most stuff?

I'm thinking of getting one......price is right this time of year. I do encounter some bad mud and muskeg to get to where i'm going. I test rode one last week (dealer had acreage with bush trails...no mud though) and the ride was nice.....seems like you could be comfortable going for an all day ride.

Test drove a kodiak 450 and kawi 360 in parking lots so couldn't get a good idea on how they ride. Too bad cause they both had lockers.

be mostly used for bush trails... some rough.....with some mud and muskeg and a bit on fire and dirt roads

Also, I've heard that with the Vinson's limited slip front diff that under 12 mph in 4wDrive, all 4 wheels turn and over 12 mph only 3 wheels turn....that 3rd wheel being the one that needs traction the least.

Thanks

I only have a 220 2wd now so im sure the vinson would make a huge difference

i got through some pretty hairy stuff with just the cruddy stock tires...nevermind the new ones that i just put on (check out my pics)

Havent had the chance to test them yet...kinda mad at myself for not just doing 26x10x12's all the way around but the more traction the merrier.

Theres a way to make your vinsons fronts spin almost like locked differential by just holding the front brakes lightly...I need new rear brake pads BAD for my machine...it has like a 16th of an inch left of pad I hate my life.

It goes through the mud fine. only thing to watch out for is bottoming the rear axle in ruts. I haven't had no trouble with the slip front end, like he said just apply a bit of front break.

Ok I just went riding on both the stock vinson and my vinson with the new tires and whatnot.

all i have to say is HOLY CRAP. those tires made such an enormous difference. Whoops, bumps...they are all absorbed like nothing. The bike catches soo much better grip and still manages to dust the other vinson in acceleration until the lighter vinny tops it out by a single mph or two. But I went through some DEEP and i mean deep mud at a crawling pace. the machine just crawls up and over anything. The other vinson got stuck several times...I managed to actually pull into the rut the other one was stuck on and push him out...and then crawl right out.

Stability/center of gravity is wayy better than before. The tires have wayy more surface area on the ground than the stock POS's did and the machine still accelerates like a bat out of hell. I can probably mimic the acceleration with 25" tires if I put that cam mod in. front seemed a bit heavier i only rode my machine for about 15 minutes (let my buddy ride it while i rode my other friends stock vinson)

But compared to the 25" 589s that have about the same size tread depth...these mud lites handled the mud significantly better IMO. sand, hard pack, mud, water AMAZING.

I was actually skeptical yesterday when i saw them on there. but im happy now aside from the front end being heavier but after all...its a utility in the first place...not a wheelie machine.
