Default LT 500 shocks

Does anyone know if they will fit a lt250. I know that they are probably longer, that is not a problem. I was wondering if they will bolt right up.

Not without some modifications... They shock mounts are wider on the 500, the shock is considerably longer also.

They will fit if you shave the top mount a fair bit. Just take equal amounts of material off either side so it keeps it centered. I started with an angle grinder to to the most of it and then used a file for the last little tune ups. You just have to use different shims at the top. I used washers. I know its not perfect but it works. The bottom drops right in. This is assuming your machine is a 92 like mine. Can't guarantee this on other years unless they are the same.

They arent longer, actually they are shorter and you will lose ground clearance. They work alot better than the stock ones for general riding, like trails as far as Im concerned. Just dont expect to get huge air at the track or wherever. Id suggest making a skidplate too. I made mine out of 1/4 aluminum plate and man has it ever gotten beat up since I Put these shocks on.

I hope that helped.

Hmm, guess it depends on what year your dealing with... the '85/'86 are much shorter than the 500 shock.

So, the front shocks off of a 92 lt250 are longer than those off of a late model lt500. Correct?

i think the 85/86 250 shocks were like 12 inches or so...the 87+ were around 15 inches for the 250...I think the 87+ and zilla are the same, but the zilla shocks are set up much stiffer, etc.
