I got an RD350 motor in mine but it wasnt anything near a direct drop in. The motor had to be elevated about 2.5 inches to lign everything up. There is no way I could have done any of it if I wasnt friends with a good welder and an excelent engine builder/friend who also helped me by doing all the wiring etc.. My stuff still isnt done though, Im having custom pipes made for it and they are taking forever. Been there a month already. Here is what it looked like before I dropped if off there though.
Picture Dont let the scruffy ness on the outside fool you, I just used some old side covers for the sleeper effect. The inside of the motor is worked over and everything in tip top shape.

Its the banshee engines grandpa which came in a street bike during the 70s. There was the RD250, RD350, and RD400. Air cooled and point type ignition. They are cheap, fast, and "easier" to install since there is no radiator or CDI or much wiring at all. Power output is about the same as a banshee and they respond to mods about the same but need a few extra ones when you get into the big deal. If you want to port it and install bigger carbs you also need to install banshee reed cages which requires some work with a grinder and some reed spacers. On a side note, they wont rev quite as high as a drag banshee will. 10,500 is about the limit on the stock crank and if you want to use a banshee crank it will take some fabricating to make the ignition etc. work.

Stock hp was about 29 but they had horrible horrible pipes. With some good pipes I would suspect they get around 35-40hp. Mines been worked over though, I suspect it will compete with the average ported banshee.
