Well, I knew the time would come eventually. Several years of riding various ATV's and motorcycles (on and off-road) and I finally crashed my DS. Riding on a narrow trail so I put my right tires in some high weeds. Don't know where my mind was but I should have been thinking that there might be a BIG BOULDER in those weeds. Hit that thing doing about 35-40 MPH (As per GPS). Needless to say, the DS did a stop drop and roll, and I didn't. Landed about 20 feet in front of the DS. Broke a finger when I landed on the railroad tracks running parallel to the trail. The DS stood up better than me though. Except for some scratches, there was NO damage to the DS at all. Speediest tank I've ever ridden!!!

 

my handlebars seamed to bend pretty easily. . . i was doin a dounut in the feild and it caught and just landed on it side. i just jumped off, didnt really hurt but when we flipped it back up the handle bars were bent and a couple items on the handlebars were very loose. but otehr than that, i havent wrecked yet

 

Im jealous every time i wreck im replaceing the headlight and box support bar.

I've bent my stock handlebars also, you have to remember how much weight is on them when the DS is upside down[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]

thats true, but mine didnt flip all the way, jsut landed on its side so i didnt expect them to get bent that bad. but they were to the point when sitting straight the right side was about 2 inches higher than the left side. oh well, i got them bent back thoguh so yuo cant hardly notice or feel a difference

 

i'd think it's better to bend the bars than the steering stem, glad you alright.

No doubt about it though, the DS is the toughest sport quad ever made. My worst get off on a DS was about two years ago. I was going way too fast around a blind turn on a two track dirt road, powersliding aroung the turn in fifth gear, only to find out that there was a barb wire fence right after the turn, with a gate across the road that was CLOSED! By the time my reaction time took effect I did not get on the binders until just ten feet before the gate. I remember getting on the binders, and hitting the gate, but nothing after that because the crash broke the fiberglass on my full face helmet, and gave me a concussion. I had more cuts and scrapes from that barb wire than you've ever seen. And I remember that I could not tell my wife what had happened, because all I kept doing was asking her what had happened. She went back out on her ATV and backtracked my route home, and found the remains of the barb wire gate, and my broken watch band laying on the ground.

All that happened to the DS was some scratches in the plastic, bent handlebars, and a broken clutch lever split perch, so I had ridden the DS home without a clutch. Pretty impressive bulletproof construction on that DS if you ask me.

 

ya the ds pretty touch, mine didn't do to bad for hitting a truck , but then again i was going much faster, and i broke a bone in my hand too, prolly from wen i landed on the pavement

BTW how do you like the pro circuit pipe? my bro is looking at ds with one of those on it
