Default problem with pilot screw loose in Raptor!

I noticed after installing my GYTR kit the other day that my bore on my stock carbs is not snug against my pilot screw in both my carbs. I drove it down the road after doing a suggested 2 1/2 turns out on the pilots and both pilots blew out of the seats.

Whats up with that?

My friend has same exact set-up and his is not doing this. There was no gasket that came with the pilots to seat tight and it is a litle loose unless it is turned and tightne all the way in.

Should I just replace the pilot with a larger one and keep it all the way tightned in? Is there something wrong with my stock raptor carbs pilot seats?

Any suggestions welcome!

Did you turn them 2.5 turns from the stock location? If so thats why they were loose. You should screw them all the way in, then turn them out the 2.5 turns.

You might try putting a little teflon pipe sealant(liquid) on the threads. That'll keep them from turning easily without locking them in solid like loctite.

I'm kind of new to carb tuning, but are you talking about turning out your pilot screw in the carb or the air fuel mixture underneath the carb on the outside? The pilot jet inside the carb should be tightened. The air/fuel mixture screw on the outside should be adjusted in or out to adjust the amount of air that enters the carb. Sorry if I am missing the point, just wanted to make sure that you're not leaving the pilot jet loose inside the carb.

yeah guys ... sorry to lead you astray. I pulled a no brainer and turned out the jets instead of the air screws on the outside of carbs. Yeah! I know let the laughing commence!

On a positive note... I ended up going with the recommendations listed in the link below, so I hope they are correct according to the web site . They say your suppose to do 3 turns out on left carb and 2 turns out on right. I'm using KNN with no lid and white brothers high end s series slip on.
