I know that the Kawasaki has changed its lineup very little in recent years. However, I have been told that the 400 4x4 auto is still a dam good performer. How does it compare to the Honda 450, 350, Yamaha 400 auto, etc.? Appreciate your input!!

I bought my Prairie 400 4x4 last year. My wife and I bought 200 acres in Northern Minnesota to start a horse ranch, so we needed something with *****, and something that we could also have fun with. Luckily in our area we have a dealer for every major quad. In all honest truth the Prairie 400 had enough of everything we wanted and more. We plow snow with it, pull large round bails of hay, haul wood from all over, and we are constantly collecting manure with it, and tons of other stuff. With everything we throw at it, it just keeps asking for more. We have friends that bought a Honda, and others that bought a Polaris, (also last year) who do not do half of what we do, and they have had more machine breakdowns. We have yet to have any issues with our quad, and believe me I keep trying to find out what it can't do, since it does everything so far. When we were shopping around, the only machine that I thought might have performed better than the Prairie was the Bombardier, but the dealer wouldn't let me do anything but drive around the parking lot with that one. (The only reason that I liked the Bombardier a little more was the fact that it could, supposedly, tow more.) Since then, I've heard next to nothing about the Bombardier, so maybe it's not that great.

The wife reminds me that we did have a small issue with the Prairie in the winter. It was left outside during a cold snap, and it was a real pain to start. So don't leave it out in the cold, but that goes for all quads.
