I currently own a raptor and was looking into getting a new quad. I like the predator alot and was just wondering how well it performs against the raptor in tight trails. Has reverse came on them from the beginning?

Reverse is new on the pred for 05. I think it will be a awsome trail quad with reverse now.

 

with the reverse now i dont think they really compare in those trails because predator is lower and i think you'll just feel less tippy and the steering is on a dime

 

The only advantage 05 Raptors have on the 05 Predator 500 will be the price, which is about $5400 for the Raptor & $6100 for the Predator.

 

Predator also out handles the raptor in the tight trails.

 

whats the difference in power bands and just raw power?
are they worht that much more? Are there any must mods for the predator, or things i need to watch for stock?

The Predator doesn't have the raw torque of the Raptor, but in "My" opinion it is a better quad in every other facet. Higher ground clearance, better suspension, and much lower center of gravity. I've had both and I won't ever go back to a Raptor. With the new 05' preds the only thing I can think of would be to get rid of the stock air box! The design from the factory is almost more of a joke than the Raptor airbox. Both quads will get the job done, I just think that the Pred will do it better. The power curve between the two is totally different..........and I'll take the pred any day.

The Rappy is good ol torque thumper, doesn't rev that fast or high, but it'll grunt and lump up most any hill.

The preddy on the other hand is the most 2 stroke feeling power band of any of the big bore thumpers out there short of maybe the YFZ450.

I've rode a DS650, Rappy, 450R, YFZ450, both my modded and stock predators, and I like the power band and high reving engine of the predator or yammy 450 any day.
