I got my new Polaris Sportsman 500HO with the Polaris WARN winch kit ... i can't get it to free spool. Any ideas.

 

Have you used it at all yet. If not there is only one idea that I can think of...

 

is there tension on it as you are trying to move it? can you move the lever...need more details to get an idea

 

You can put the **** in the free spool position ... but its really hard to get it there and you can free spool the drum but man you REALLY pull HARD to get the cable out... my old WARN is easy it free spool, if you pull hard the cable will spin the drum.

 

are both of your's the same? mine u got to pull fairly hard....also wouldnt want it to just loose all tension as with 50 ' of cable all floppy in there.... I am considering cuting teh cable down to 15 feet anyway and just using webbing for anything longer as its a pain in the *** to wind all that wire up anyway.

 

Both winches are the same model ... one is off my old sportsman and is 8 months old, it works great and free spools easy enough for a 2yr old to pull out the cable. The new one, i have to put all my 190lbs into it to just get a few feet out of it with each pull.
