My DS floats
#1
I went riding last night with some friends. It is very wet right now where we ride. Mine floats! With me on it.
I got into trouble going down a flooded trail and couldn't stop or turn around.I had to keep my weight back and keep going. It kept getting deeper and deeper. I could see high ground. Suddenly, I went into a hole. I already had the front bobbing up and when I went in that hole it was like the floor dropped. The rear was bobbing as well! I had forward momentum with the knobbies. I kept it going torwards the dry area as best I could. Then I could feel the tires hit bottom.Every couple of inches the tires would hit and I would advance forward even more. The knobbies were pushing me along, but when I got to the higher ground there was some small trees and bushes. The front tires were holding everything up so I could not continue on to the dry ground. I had went so far and had but 10 feet to go and had to get off. My Thors filled up instantly and were like two concrete blocks attached to my feet. I went around back to push. I was up to my waist. So it was about 3-1/2 to 4 feet deep. My friends watched from far away and laughed. I struggled for 15 minutes to get it up and over the little trees and bushes. It was not happening. The mosquitos were so thick. I had to turn around and go right back the way I came. So I did. It never quit as long as I had the gas on. When I got back to high ground, it would not idle. I drianed the airbox as it was pretty full. It never faultered after that.
You talk about earning respect from my friends. They always refer to my DS as a Polaris. They mean it in a derogatory way. Sorry Pol owners. When I correct them they think it sounds g a y the way it's pronounced. When I got back they were yelling " YEAH BOMBARDIYAAAA!!"
They know who's bad.

funny story!! back about 3 years ago we went riding down south and at the end of the day ( it was hot ) we ran our machine wide open into the lake. yes they float, nice way to clean up after a day of riding but the story isn't over yet. about a month later, way up in northern wis (cold as hell), we unload and my machine won't start. after pulling it around for awhile we decide to pull out the spark plugs and check it out. after popping off the seat to get to the tool kit, i see a 10" silver fish laying frozen trapped in between the seat and tool kit not only do they float but you can catch dinner to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't even think to check the oil. I just changed it not 2 hrs ago. :-(
May have been an expensive night ride as I get my oil from the dealer.
I will have to try the fishing trick, too! Thank God it was frozen or pee youuu!
I HAVE to get a digital camera so I can share more with you guys and girls.
