424 poll (Problems engaging/disengaging)
#1
Just wanted to get an idea as to how smooth other folk's 424's operate.
Going from 4wd to 2wd:
The cable takes some effort and sometimes I need to roll it back and forth to get it to engage. Other times it goes in and out perfect.
Going from 2wd to 4wd:
This is easy every time and never has a problem.
Everyone who has this let me know
thanks

Same here.
It is spring loaded to engage so when you release it as soon as the gears match it drops in.
To disengage you have to get the pressure off it to get the gears to slide apart.

Same here. There is a small amount of adjustment on the 424, but it always helped in the past to have it in gear and rock a little to transfer from 4wd to 2wd. I took my Warn completely apart at the **** side and soaked everything in WD40. I can shift from 4wd to 2wd without rocking now. The only problem I am having now is that in intense vibration it seems like it wants to work its way back into 4wd on rare occasion.
