at first i thought, camo? for the g-friend, then i saw you had the brute force and relized it would be ridden by her, not you. ive ridden many yamaha utilities and love them but it is alot to handel, but i imagine the bomb is harder to handle, its heavier but you dont get diff lock, if she wantto keep up with you shell need it.

Depending on the size of the rider I would think the Yamaha Bruin would be a great second ride. It is cheaper by alot over the Camo Kodiak and after watching my friend haul his gear into camp this year I would not hesitate to get one for my wife. I was thinking another 450 because it has the low gear range but thinking that she is only going to be hauling herself and a cooler or two it would have all the power she will need and I would be able to ride it as well. I found I used high gear mostly and knowing that she would not be towing anything she would not need the low gear.

I have the 04 Kodiak450 and it is a great machine, logged over 500 miles on it during hunting season and other then one hill that I needed another quad to hook to me to get up over the top( I was pulling an oversized meat trailer 380#, 1 moose small, and a hecka lot of gear for a total around 1200 pounds counting me and you could see why I needed help towards the top. Other then that I had no problems and thought it was a very reliable machine and if you decide to get her one you will not be disapointed.

The Bruin does not have a disc brake in the back but the drum seemed more then sufficient. As I read the letter again I see you mention IRS, maybe a Polaris Sportsman 400 or 500, also very realible machines.

kawa,

How many miles have you put on so far? Are you the one who was going thru pads alot earlier this year? I remember one guy who was going thru them.

I have just about 900 miles and the pads on the front are about 1/4 wore, maybe alittle less and the fronts is all I use. Although with the low gear range I use it for down hill descents and keep off the brakes that way, this way I know they will be there when I need them.

heres the thing I NEVER USE THE FRONT BRAKES!!!! i barely go threw the mud anymore cuz i go threw so many brake pads and they are $30.00 for the front. well i cantt remember how many miles i got on them but i will when i put the new ones on. i can't believe how fast they wear away!! i have been buying the EBC i think thats what they are. I'm going to get the better ones next time that are around $60.00 for the front. i go threw brake pads like crazy though.
