Difficult Shifting Hi-Low-R
#1
My just acquire 95 Kodiak is very difficult to shift between Hi-Low-R. As I understand it, (I have no owners manual and am figuring it out), you need to depress the rear (foot) brake in order to use the shift (interlock?). Even so, pressing VERY hard, it only sometimes easily shifts. Most times, it seems to bind, mostly when trying to get out of reverse.
Is there a lubrication point? Are there other areas I should attempt to service first? Perhaps a linkage from the foot brake (if it really is a interlock)?
Any thoughts advise welcome, as said, just learning this ATV...

I'm not too much help here, but I know shifting to and from reverse can be a little tricky, just make sure you are stopped and have the foot brake on. I suppose it is possible for the linkage to get adjusted.

The lever will move, however, it won't usually slip into the low notch.. just moves back and forth. Almost sees like a mechanism (teeth?) haven't lined up to permit it to engage. In most cases, I've got to back up a 'bit' more and try again... the other day, I ran out of back up room!!!
Long and short, it can't be right!! Its gotta be an adjustment, alignment or wear point or even lube...
Just acquire the ATV and haven't any materials, owners manual, shop manual etc. All on the To Do list.
If anyone here has a owners manual, I'd love a photocopy. I'll buy a service manual as I'll likely wrench it a bit.
Just trying to get the majors under control so I can put my plow on for the winter.

Sometimes, I have to do the honda rock, rock forwards and back, to get the shifter, and light to some on in low. There is an adjustment procedure to center the shift shaft in the travel. But im not sure itll work for a 95.
