Default 05 Grizzly clutch problem?

I just bought a new Grizzly and it has 211 miles on it and I sunk once and the clutch didn't work right after that. It would only go about 26 mph but I had to get it back which was like 30 miles. I brought to the dealer and they said it needed a whole new primary and that it wasn't covered under warranty and would cost $750 to fix it. I was wondering what people are doing or is there any mods to help keep this from happening again. Thanks.

erock, that is bs about your clutch.IF you sank it above the front racks chances are you clogged up the trans vent tubes..Take off seat and airbox.Look down at the crankcase there is two tubes one going to the front and to the rear.Unscrew them starting with the front, more than likely mud has caked up the tubes. Then clean both and also check the crank cover by removing it.(if your mechanically inclined)and make sure no mud has got in there. As for as your 26mph check and make sure all the rollers are in place.Sometimes with all that mud may have knocked them out of place..Then go back to your dealer and ask him why they would want to screw you like that. You might want to relube the primary after that.

That dealer is an *sshole. The clutch weights are probably stuck with mud. I would clean the whole thing and replace the grease on the clutch weights. I would need a manuel to know exactly how to do it, but that is cheap compare to taking it to the dealer.

Clean and regrease the clutch. I just sunk my 04 and it acted the same way even after draining the water out of the belt case. I took it apart and regreased it and it works great. It is also a very simple task if you are mechanically inclined. Go to www. ansley.net and there is a detailed description of how to do it, including pics. when you retorque the 22mm nut you will either have to have the tool to hold the clutch or some rope. I was told to tie a rope around the primary , wrap it around a few times and tie it to the frame or foot peg and this will keep it from turning. I haven't tried it yet, But I am going to. I had to just tighten mine with an impact until I learned this trick. You have to get a tub of Yamaha ultramatic grease (Grizzly grease) to regrease it.
