have you seen my 3rd gear

i seem to have lost my 3rd gear on my 87 250x and i am pretty sure it isnt anything elese (like shift linkge) i was just wondering if it has happened to anyone elese thanks

There was a flaw in the 3rd gear of the 250x in 87 & 88. I'm not sure what exactly is the problem, but a reputable Honda shop can put an upgrade in for fairly cheap.

yea back in the day Honda recalled them for 3rd gear problems.

Did a few of them. You will need the gear for the main shaft. The one for the counter shaft. The one that Third gear pegs go in to.For some reason I had to replace the reverse gear on them to. While you are in there count on pistion, rings, boring and a cam chain. There is a chance the valves are gone to for the year it is. Count on around $700.00 in parts. But you have a motor that is allmost as like new and good for several more years.

well i have replaced everything you have listed except the tranny parts i am really getting sick of quadding costs way too much money
