I'm thinking a flat spot on the belt.

ya..sounds like a burnt spot in the belt.....my buddies machine did the same thing on the weekend after he was trying to pull someone out in high gear and you could smell burning rubber....

Default 2004 700 Sportsman question?

Let me see if i can add a little more meat to this thread.

The wheeler does not move in gear when it is idleing. The problem comes when i have it in high gear and try and take off at a very low speed. The bike feels like there is almost a skip or a hop in it. It is also alot more noticeable on the ashvault then on the grass.

For the guys who say it could be the belt you very well might be right and i really hope you are, but why does it only do it in high gear and not in low? Thats what seems to have me the most baffeled.

Now what do i need to do to inspect the belt?

Thanks again.

to get at the belt you want to take off all the bolts around the clutch housing 8 i think and then the breather clamp should be 2 clamps located above the housing but still connected then you want to take out the screws holding the floorboard on and pull that out about 6 inches and then pull the cover out and down to remove the cover and everything is out in the open
