Default Anyone with actual results w/larger tires w/Hondamatic?

I bought a 04 rubicon 4x4, 41hrs. I was told 27" 589's would fit. I've read all the forums and have found no real results of putting larger tires on this ATV. My concern is with power loss. I don't want to have to run in low range all the time. (mostly trail riding w/mud)
Someone did sugest changing the front drive shaft out to a Warn ?

ok the bigger the tire the more overall top speed but the less power it as, the smaller the tire the less top speed it has but more power. and the bigger the tire the more stress it puts on your drivetrain and can cause it to fail overtime. the sock tire size they put on that 4 wheeler will probally give you the maxium power and speed you can get from that four wheeler b 4 you lose power or speed. so if you get new tire you should stick with same size tire that came on it.

IF you dont mind spending a few extra bucks, you can surely regain the power you may loose by installing a K&N filter and jet kit, or even better, a power kit with pipe. It sure woke up the sleeping monster in my 04 Foreman!

All of these sugestions make complete sinse. I'm still looking for someone whom has actually installed larger tires on a Rubicon. Did they notice any performance issue with the ATV. THANKS

I've got around 2000 miles on my Rubi, and have had 26" Mudrunners on it almost from day one. No significant loss of power or performance considering how heavy the MR's are. Pretty much any ATV can move up one tire size without any noticeable power loss. Going up to a 27" tire will affect the low end power a little. That can always be compensated with the K&N/jet kit/exhaust combination.
