Default LT80 - To Pipe or not to Pipe? DG

I have a 1989 LT80 - all stock. I'm thinking of changing to a DG pipe and re-jetting it. Any advice yes or no?

Thanks.

The DG pipe is economical and loud (the kids like em loud).
As for whether you should pipe it or not, the answer would be found in what you want as far as performance.
If you are going to putt around/yard ride/etc. then no pipe is needed.I'd only recommend getting a pipe if you build a top speed racer.
The fact of it is:you will pay approx 50% of what a motor kit costs for a pipe and get 1% of the results.
The stock pipe really is a good one.

Thanks LT80. Looking to increase grunt in the dunes. What's in the motor kit, and how difficult to install for a non-wrench?

The motor kit includes all engine and clutch mods to make the lil LT go up Olds hill.
It's simple, you send the motor and get it back assembled and ready to bolt in and go.
ALTHO, clutch maintenence is a must on LT80's modded or stock. You'll need to learn how to wrench a lil.

Thanks LT80. What about price and length of time for you to beef this little quad up?

I had a DG pipe on my son's LT, but really didn't like it's construction. The aluminum silencer kept working it's way loose and rattling. I drilled out the (2) rivet's that held it to the pipe 2-3 times and re-rivited it back on. It would be okay for a short time and then loosen up again and start rattling. Performance wise it seemed okay. Maybe it was our application (Sand only). I'm guessing that maybe the slapping of paddles on sand may be harder on the pipe than everyday basic dirt riding. I ended up throwing it in the garbage...

I just got an 89 lt 80 the exh is loud not shure what the pipe is. the pipe goes in front of the shock then points strait out the back it has 4 rivets and 4 screws at the end of the pipe and no silencer on it. does any one know what it is(could it be a DG?). and could I get a quiet silencer for it. Maby someone would wanna trade a stock exhaust for it.

That alum piece on the DG allways comes loose. we ran it with it off but it sure was offensive to the ear.
Nicks3: you need to check the rollers for flat spots is the biggest concern. Every now and then you sand the glaze off the rear contact pads and both front clutch faces.

He is really reasonable. Mine really screams up the dunes. I had mine big bore by another company and he had one put together with a stock pipe on it. Just blew mine away. He hooked me up and now I fly ( well my kid does). I had the dg pipe on mine and just recently changed it to the CT pipe. What a difference. Dg pipe works good on a stock motor
