Your right on quite a few things with that reply.
Sure if you got it try it. who wouldn't.
Yes, the FMF works best with your porting. I've even recommended the FMF for ppl that never intend to modify the motor. If you were to compare my porting with the 2 pipes you would see and feel the difference. For the tools/money/labor involved you did a great job asfas. I don't think anyone will bash you. You did work and reported the results so all can learn. That's what it's all about.

went racing yesturday and junior did very well for his second race his bike and a 8year old girl were the only ones with stock pipes. there were mostly hetricks pipes. and a couple lrds. which is funny since lrd is only a couple of miles away. any way he wants a pipe and i plan one having lt80 build him a race engine after christmas. so what pipe should i get him that will work with the kit and make him happy

From what I understand no pipe is needed. The stock pipe is what works with his "kit" the best. So put the money that you were gonna spend on a pipe and put it to the cost of the kit.

OK, it all depends on what you are going to do with it.
For recreational riding (dunes/trails/yard) and the beginner racer, the stock pipe works great. Especially for the working man on a budget.
For a race machine, I have been using a **** pipe and had good results. The only difference between the stock/aftermarket is the roller weight and rear clutch weight. Unfortunatly if you were to tune to a aftermarket pipe and then decide to go back, it'll cost approx 100$ in parts.
If loud is wanted, then get a cheap DG pipe. It'll work like a stock, cept loud. The LRD will work with my porting also, but for the cost and no extra performance gains,,I don't recommend it.
Sort of a pipe update.

Here is my pipe experience - in a nutshell. My buddies KFX80 with a local shops portwork - FMF pipe would rev quicker but would not pull as hard toward the upper revs nor would it top out as high as the stocker. We swapped them back and forth several times testing and he eventually chose the FMF because it was quicker off idle. I nagged him long enough that he finally bought a CT pipe and the difference is between night and day. It revs quicker, pulls hard all the way up till the clutch is maxed out and revs to the moon. Help me out with this one Jack - isn't CT, Hetrick and one other one all from the same manufacturer?

The Trinity/ATV Racing/CT/Hetrick pipes are made by Power Pros.
I'm 99.9% sure that the Trinity and Hetrick pipes are the same. The ATV Racing pipe is made for a big bore and has a bigger header pipe(.050). I'm told that the CT is longer and revs a lil higher altho I cannot verify that by personal expierience.

I have both versions of the (2) pipes mentioned. I have the Power Pros' pipe (smaller chamber) which seems to be a low-mid range pipe. I beleive it's the same one Hetrick sells. I also have one that I bought directly from CT. In comparing the (2) the CT has a larger chamber. It's seems to be more of a high reving/top end pipe. Mostly of the time I've ran the power pro pipe (more mid-range) on my son's ATV during the this last TT racing season. It seems to pull/work well for the most part, especially on the more tighter/twisty tracks. Just before the the last race, I put the CT pipe on, did some test runs and wasn't as happy with it. It seemed to be more lazy off the bottom, hole shots weren't as good or the bottom end in general. We ended up bolting the power pro's pipe back on for the last race as it seemed to work better for our use.

Thought I better throw in my two cents on the pipe issue. We had the FMF pipe on my sons lt80 with some porting and head work done. I thought that it ran ok until I sent my motor to Jack and had him build it for us and now we use the Hetrick pipe and I must tell you that there is no comparison to the FMF. I just thought that it ran good before. I have not tried the stock pipe, since my son also wanted to have the noise and the chrome on his bike. Jack says that the stock pipe will work as well with his motor as the Hetrick or CT, and he has been right on the money with everything that he has done for me, so I am sure that he knows what he is talking about with the pipe as well. All I know is that the Hetrick pipe that we use is loud but if you can put up with the noise it is well worth the difference over the FMF.
