1986 trx200sx front brake systems rebuild
#1
OK guys,
I know this has been done before....as I did a search before posting.
However nothing matched my problem.
I have replaced darn near everything in the front system....
New front cylinders, new pads, new master cylinders seals new fluid.....and still can't get any pressure in the lever no matter how much I bleed the thing.....Tired of wasting fluid and money.....
Anyone else have this problem..
My wife loves this little thing as do I.........that's the only reason it's still around the shop.plus I just put a new header and exhuast on it to give her a little more go.
All in all the thing has been real good to me, never left me stranded in the trails and always runs good as Honda's always do
Any help is truly appreciated....

try moving the breakshoes around, i was having the same problem so i called a dealer and asked them. They said the breakshoes had to be positioned in a certainway or else it would not build up pressure

I know this thread is old, and maybe it's so obvious nobody mentioned it. You do know you have to manually adjust the front brakes? If you don't do that, you will never get any pressure on the lever.

Hello gents, I'm doing a full resto/upgrade on my 86 TRX200SX and I'm looking to rebuild the front WHEEL CYLINDERS...anyone know where I can find rebuild kits or cups and seals that will fit those wheel cylinders? Been looking all over and other than buying a complete backing plate with everything on Ebay, haven't found one single thing for them...THANKS GUYS!

The seals were discontinued by Honda a few years back. You may find similar pistons were used on other makes, as I would guess Honda will buy cylinders from a specialist maker. They mention in the parts book that the bleed nipple is Nissin so the cylinder probably will be too. Measure the bore of the cylinder and see if you can find seals for the same bore. Alternatively, if the cylinder is the same length and mountings as other cylinders, a complete cylinder from say a 300 2WD or 250 may fit, if the bore is bigger it will give more powerful brakes, at the expense of a longer travel and more frequent adjustment.
