The New Polaris SP800 weight over 170 pounds (almost 30% more) more than the Brute and P700. Some Polaris guys are saying that because Polaris puts on good tires and the Kawi's 2 ply tires don't weight much and if they were on the same rubber they also be over 700 pounds.

Would new tires really make that much of a diff? Or some of the Polaris boys just smelling too much gas? <B>

the tires/wheels add very little weight...the weight comes from the strength of the polaris...it has welded on skid plates on the bottom of the frame, the frame is beefed up, the suspension is heavier as it runs stronger components, the racks are heavier and more sturdy than other machines.....

wait for the full comparison tests on the new 800 EFI and it not only will keep up in acceleration and top speed, but it will win as the toughest big bore ATV overall...

I have the '05 700 EFI with all the updated components, it is tough as nails....the storage is awesome, the suspension is better than anything out there by far, the EFI is a blessing where I ride, from 4500 - 13000 feet, no jetting, can even notice I'm changing altitude....the ride is so plush, yet you can still dive into a corner and steer with the rearend......wider stance for between balance and handling.....thats just a few of the items...

 

polaris also has steel rims the BF and KQ have cheap aluminum stamped rims. the front half shafts are also 2 times as big the BF and KQ looks like little #2 pencils to my poliars

I would agree that if ''beefier'' parts meant that parts should or would outlast the competetions same smaller parts,that this is a good thing for the ATV industry,BUT,as an actual owner of 2 brand new Polaris 4x4 ATVs,this is just not the truth.These beefier parts did'nt add ANY more strength or longivity to the quad.

All's Polaris ''beefier''parts do is to add un-needed weight to an allready heavy weight quad.Something I dont personally need when im riding.

 

re read what you just wrote and then take a look at the specs of the 800. the weight it carys on its racks is nearly double the compatition, and is recomended to pull 1500LBS!

 

Bull....if you read Polaris industry news, you will find it it is exactly why their machines are heavier, because they are built to last and the owner of Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Polaris machines, i can tell you they are stronger....so quit trolling...

 

so your telling me the frame isnt stronger because its beefier and polaris makes in heavier just for sh*ts and giggles haha smellin to much gas man
