is it the law that atv's have to be insured in NY, bc im riding in my driveway around ym house alot, and dont want to get my quad taken away... what do you guys pay for insurance and what does it cover??

 

yeah its the law, registered and insured. can only ride on your own property and to ride on someone elses land you need written permission. YEAH RIGHT. the cost depends on size or number of cc's. full coverage for my brute 750 is like 300 a year and my rubicon 500 goes for like 200 a year. so the recon shouldnt be to much. good luck with that recon in Roscoe. i'm near wurtsboro.

Without reg & ins you risk confiscation if caught riding illegally. Go to Progressive.com. I'm paying about $140 total for 2. I also got a solicitation call where GEICO was at least thinking about ATV ins. Last, most ATV parks, like Trailpass, require reg & ins

 

I presume that the law only requies you to have liability??? Per bike, I pay about $30 per year for liability, and $100 for comprehensive (only get comp on the more expensive bikes).

 

markymann, why would that risk confiscation....? i thought it would help my chances of gettin let off the hook if i got stopped.

over 500 cc's the price nearly doubles. i carry full insurance since i own 2 brand new atv's and have already had my helmet, goggles, gloves, and some brand new tools stolen from my garage. i would rather not take the chance.
