My 2004 Sportsman 500 HO will not start with the ignition key. I have a battery charger/maintainer on and it says battery is charged. When I turn the key it just clicks. It will start when I pull start. Any suggestions on what the problem is and how I go about fixing it?? Thanks

 

I would "short" around the starter solanoid with a jumper and see if the starter turns. If the starter turns then the solanoid is bad. If not, the starter is likely bad, if your voltage to this point is good.

 

Check the cable connections for corosion, if you have a voltmeter, hook it up, and read the voltage when you hit the starter. If its dropping...get the battery load tested.
