Default 400ex question

The '05s about 12 pounds heavier than the '04 due to the reverse. To compensate Honda lowered the gearing slightly. So to answer your question.....yes. Mine will wheelie forever.

Are you talking about top speed? If so they hit in the 65-67mph range stock from what I hear, I've never clocked mine.

Default 400ex question

As far as topend goes, the 04 and later 400ex should be faster due to the diff gearing. The gear change that honda made for the 05 was just switching the original 15 tooth front sprocket to a 14 tooth. When i had the 14 tooth on my 04 i topped out at just about 63mph, and with the 15 tooth was about 68. Hope this helps. But to be honest if you can i would get the 05, i wish i would have waited. Now that the 400ex has reverse i believe it will be the best or darn near close to the best trail quad ever made. Just my 2 cents.

Default 400ex question

he is right.

the only reason i opted for what i did was because i dont need reverse for racing, and a brand new regi, titled, never driven 400ex for 2900$ with 300$ boots is had to pass up.

Default 400ex question

a 400ex can go fast....mine clocks out at 125km but i only have a k&n air filter and oversized jets...tires don't make a difference as long as there knobby..it also depends on the pipe the best pipe i would say which will give you the most top end would have to be a splash 'n' dirt or a white bros e-series

Default 400ex question

I got clocked at 71 with mine. My friend has a 450R with the LRD pipe and jetting, He was being clocked with a truck at 83mph.
