Default Riding gear swap movement...

I was browsing on another website the other day and came across one of the most amazing threads that I have seen in a long time. It started simply as one person offering up his childrens riding gear.. hopefully in exchange for larger stuff to fit their kid as they grow. The amazing part is it grew like wildfire. Soon boots, jerseys, pants, helmets.. you name it... were being offered up free to any who needed it. I can't say I saw anyone even asking for postage...

In this day of ebay auctions, and get rich at everyone's expense mentality... it really brought a tear to my heart to find good people out there willing to share their blessings with others. I wonder if the same could hapen here?

Anyone out there with stuff to get rid of... offer it up and see the magic happen.

Come on Bing, do you think ol' Dragginbutts kids would be wanting for anything? I hope that you wouldn't think for a minute that would happen would you?

Dude, I am the guy who goes out and buys helmets for kids sight unseen... I really do have an open account with my dealer's parts department to pay for any kid's helmet when parents say they can't afford one... I am up to three now in the past 5 years. I also have been advocating riding clubs form a swap closet for helmets... The riding gear had never occurred to me, but think about it. Kids outgrow helmets, chest protectors, pants and boots way before they wear out... so why not? We used to wear hand me downs all the time when I was a kid. Today they call it recycling...

Really, this is legit... Anyone out there with stuff to give away? Post it and see what happens...

You really are part of the solution, not that I ever really doubted you, but buying new helmet's for people you have not met, very impressive. I have given away a lot of stuff from my kid's younger days also. But I have never offered to buy a new helmet for anyone. I will have to check out in the shed and see what old gear I do still have around, great idea. Would you share that other site with us? The one that you saw this idea on.
