What do you think is a good atv for hs a yfz450 or a 450r.Iam a big guy at 6'3 280lb.I have z400 but it is stock and i want to set it up for racing.I dont know if i want to set my 400 or buy a new 450 and do it to that.This will be my first year racing hare scramble.Last year was my first year racing mx and i did not do so well but it was my first year on a atv.

 

Before you dump a ton of money into the Z, you might just want to pick up a 450. You never get back all the $$$ you put in, so if you think you will be racing for a while, I would just go with a 450 now and save myself some mulah in the long run.

 

I myself after going to many XC races every weekend would buy the Honda trx 450. WE race XC races and the Honda's are better with the lower center of gravity for the woods. My friend is a pro rider and he had to have the new Yamaha 450. After 2 races he sold it because his younger brother who is a pro rider was smoking him bad. The yammy just wouldn't handle the woods like the Honda. He says the yammy is no match for the Honda.Everyone is on a Honda TRX 450 . There are very very few Yamaha's 450's now. Look at the GNCC series there are Honda trx's everywhere.

 

all i know is they're BOTH quick machines and give me a run for my money and can beat me with some mods, all it takes is for me to make 1 mistake and there they go trying to play catch up!...but personly i would keep the z400...in harescrambles reverse will come in REAL HANDY....my 2 cents
