Need..... new, better carbs for my 2002 650 prairie

I have been advised that my carbs wore out prematurely? I got a little too cocky crossing too many rivers I guess. Anyways my quad is down and out, still runs but only 50%.
I need to find some aftermarket carbs. Has anyone tried this?
Also interested in other after market product to improve performance. Drop me a line.
I would be interested in your comments.

Just replace what ever part in the carb is worn out, there aren't that many parts. The carb body itself doesn't wear out only the internal components. Actually not sure what would wear out other than maybe the float gone bad most of the other parts just need cleaned or adjusted.

Hey,
I don't have alot of mech experience, just the basics. I know the quad is loading up one carb very wet inside and easy to see, and so running rich and like I said now it consistently has no power, just prior to this problem when you hit it full speed straightaway, the motor seemed to hesitate for a few seconds and return to normal and it would do this ongoing every few seconds, we took it apart right at our camp and noticed the wet carb cylinder. .. it took a few minutes for the problem to occur, once the engine would heat up, so we think it is the carbs loading up. Also does not idle worth a crap. My mechanic has alot of experience with polaris, he thinks it is the carb, because he noticed wear on the cables etc, so he cleaned and lubed cables to make sure no sticking was taking place. I tested it and still no power. Mech took carbs out to examine and said that they appear to be warn to the extreme. Possible water damage? Otherwise not sure what to do except try new carbs.

Carbs are probabbly one of the simplist things on the quad. There are very few parts inside. Some things that can be wrong. Your cable could be sticking a bit possibly. But from what you describe I would guess you took some material into the carb and could possibly have an air jet plugged. Take the carb off and just remove the parts there are very few open the float bowl there is a needle with a spring under the float tang dirt can cause that to stick also, remove the main jet and needle jet as well as the air screw adjustment clean the whole thing in a good solvent and use a high pressure air hose to blow out the little ports. It does not take much dirt to alter the carb function. Also is the plug on that cylinder black or wet with fuel? you could possibly have a spark problem. New carbs, well for that I am sure it will pretty much eat up a 500.00 bill.

Arent the carbs mostly alluminum with brass parts inside? How would water damage them? unless it froze inside of course. If I were in your shoes, I would take the carbs off myself, take them to a different shop, even a small engine shop, or any shop that can rebuild carbs and pay to have them rebuilt, then put them back on yourself. Should be much cheaper.

Hello,
Just to let you know I contated the Kawasaki mechanic at the dealer which I bought the quad and told him that according to my mech I need parts for the carb. He said no way bring it in, and he will have it running right in the same day. Said it could only be one or two things but no parts are wore out, supposed to last 15 years? Anyways I called me mechanic to pass on the info. He had it running in the same day. So apart from the run around I am happy the quad is fixed. already been out hailing wood with it. Runs good again. Thanks for your input.
