I am looking into buying a Honda Recon.

I was wondering if i could get any info on the Recon through personal experience. Ive got one dealer that wants $3800, and another dealer that wants $3500 for a brand new Recon. Also, what color should I get?? I personaly like the Olive (green) color. Thanks.

I've had a Recon and a Rancher for 6 mths or so and think they're both great. There was a beige Recon sitting there too when I chose a green one--sometimes wish I would've taken that since it matches my truck and the dust where we usually ride. No matter. I have noticed the Recon always at least burps immediately when starting while the Rancher usually takes a little cranking (although like shark said they take some fiddling until warmed up). Great bikes--tough, run great, quality.
Don't know if I should admit this in public but I paid $4000 out-the-door for the Recon. Couldn't hide the fact I wanted it then and there--a surprise for my son that night.

Greetings,
Must agree with all that's been written above. Its quick and tough, a little cold blooded, and very easy to ride. Its a little smaller, lighter, and bouncier than a Rancher or Foreman, but of course, its not a Rancher or Foreman. Its sort of analogous to a Jeep Wrangler, with the Foreman like a Durango. I wish it had more gauges (speedometer, gas gauge, gear indicator) but for the money you can't complain.
As for color, I always liked beige -- looks like a jeep in desert storm and doesn't show the dirt -- but it didn't go well with the yellow 450ES. The green looks tough -- sort of all business -- but seemed too serious for the wife and kids. Red just seemed right for a smaller machine -- more of a fun color.
OK, that's enough of the softer side of ATVing.
Is it proper to wear brown gloves with black boots?

You just can't beat a Recon. If it was spelled any other way it would be spelled "fun". It's not the biggest, fastest or badest quad but it will go and do just about any thing you want it too. I paid about $3600.00 out the door and it's red. If it's not red, it's not a Honda!
