Just another rookie question...Need to remove the front bearings. I believe the hubs are 86. Looks like there are inner/outer bearings, and a sleeve in between, but the sleeve is same inner diameter as the bearings. So how do I knock out the old bearings? I have a Clymer manual and it doesnt seem to explain it too well...Also I ordered the wrong bearings, I have 88-89 so I cant use them as a reference. Also, can I use heat to help remove the wheel studs? Or can that damage the hubs? They look like cast so I guess it wouldnt hurt but I am not sure....

ok to remove the bearings you will have to nudge the sleeve to one side with a awl, or flat head screwdriver... its not the same diameter as the ID of the hub so it will move... then knock out the bearings, switch from the flat head to something more blunt as you gain more play.

as for heat... if they are aluminum forget it... you'll weaken them, cast steel is ok but i really don't think they are... use a magnet to check... if they are aluminum do not use direct flame "heat as you said" use an oven at about 200-250 degrees or just muscle them out with a hammer and block of wood.
