Starting Trailblazer without a choke - Starting fluid?
#1
I'm trying to get my 250 Trailblazer started, which has a broken choke cable. It's been like this for years and I've always sprayed Carb/Choke cleaner directly into the carb. and it's fired right up. Well, now my usual can has ran empty and I can't find this brand any longer. What else can I use to get it started? Is starting fluid a bad idea? I sure don't like using it, even in an ice cold diesel engine. Can someone suggest a brand of carb cleaner that is flammable that I can use?
Thanks,
SnowDrift

u can hold yur hand over the intake to manually choke it, starting fluid isnt usually a good idea, yur quad can get addicted to it and will refuse to start unless u give it a shot of starting fluid.

A machine can not get addicted to a "drug", lol. Either will work fine as starting fluid also. You can find it for sale in a spray can in most auto part stores.

Ok. I can learn something new. explain to me how a machine has the ability to learn to not start unless you spray starting fluid into it? Does it have a bad morning? Does it hold out for a better brand? Does it require increasing amounts to satisfy its addiction? What would change in a machine so that once it has a steady diet of starting fuild that it would want it all the time?

Every time you spray that into a two stoke, it cleans the cylinder walls. You're taking off the lubrication it needs. Won't hurt a couple of times, but keep doing it and you're asking for trouble.

Hey SnowDrift. Go to your closest truck stop or truck dealer and get a starting fluid such as Start Pilot. That's the brand name of the one we use in our equipment. It's an ether but it has a lubricating oil in it, thus it will not dry your cylinder walls and cause damage or seizure.
