Default BigBear Problems

Its a 2003 BigBear 400 4x4. It came up here and it was cutting out and dying (sp?). Sounded just like a fuel problem so I have already rebuilt the carb, checked to make sure the fuel flow is good, checked all the vent lines, and adjusted the valves. Nothing still the same problem as before. I have my Bear up here and I was thinking about switching CDI boxes to see if that has failed. Has anyone ever had this problem before? If so how in the wold did you get it going again?? Thanks for any help.

Default BigBear Problems

Lomax- the only things I can think of that you haven't mentioned, are some kind of blockage in air flow, or the plug/plug wire. Maybe water in the oil?? When you get it figured out let us/me know as the info will come in handy sometime.

Default BigBear Problems

I checked all that. Hes what I have done now, I put the whole bike back together and disconnectd the fuel heater (as I have done on mine) and put in a fresh plug, BAM starts up and runs, I dont know if its going to stay that way or if the plug is just doing good because its new. I am not sure what that fuel heater has to do with anything but this is the 3rd BigBear I have disconnected it from and the problems seem to dissapear, Its been different in all 3 occasions too.
1. Mine, would crank up and run ok, you get going down a good straight away (after its warmed up good) and it would just die and not start back up, after you got it cranked it would do this on and off the rest of the day.
2. Mechanics bike, He would either never start in the first place or would run like **** 90% of the time when it did crank.
3. This Bike, came in running worse than some of the ATC's I have setting around here and wouldn't clear up, I didnt think that it was the heater because it was just didnt sound the same as Kents bike and I never was able to ride it because it wouldnt move hardly. It just sounded like Carb trouble. disconnected heater (I am taking the fuse out of the box to disconnect so there are no wires dangling) and runs like new. Very Strange
