I love my 300ex and its takin me everywhere i ever wanted it to. Im gonna hate to lose it but i need to kick it up a notch. This summer i plan on selling it and either get a honda 250R, 450R, or the new 2005 400ex. Which one would suit me? I plan on Racing cross country with these by the way. And i do alot of trail riding, hill climbing etc. ( oh and its gotta be a honda. )

Go with the 450R, great great bike!

 

I like the R for riding fast in open country and more open trails. It is geared tall and loves to rev, so it isn't a great choice for semi-technical trails.

The EX is a great trail machine, but is down on power. It however doesn't mind being lugged down, so I chose it for slow, technical trails.

Everybody I know who has a 250R, is working on them all the time (they work on them more than they ride them!). These machines are just showing their age.

Also, be sure you take a good look at the Suzuki Z400. It is the best all-around machine there is! It's a 400EX with a modern engine! One would be a fool to get a 400EX for the same MSRP that you could get a Z for.
