Default after this, how much hp is expected

got a friend that just took his 250r to the shop to get

-hotrod crank kit
-310 Bg bore kit
-totally removin his airbox and just running a filter and an outerwear

he aready had a Port and polish job, with a fmf exhaust, v force reeds, jetted, and a K&N

he was wanting to know what kind of HP numbers it would be putting out.

he asked me and i told him i didnt know, im not a honda man much less a 2-stroker. i told him i know where alot of honda guys hang out and i would ask them. well here i am.

Really depends on the quality of the port and polish. Also, a 310 is hard to achieve if he didn't buy an aftermarket cylinder. A professionally ported 310 aftermarket cylinder with a better than FMF pipe (ESR, LRD, Paul Turner, etc) only makes about 45 or so. Tell him to ditch the FMF and get even more gains.

The reason I say that is because on a 2-stroke the porting is in the cylinder, not the head. If he did in fact get a 310, he would have to change cylinders (and therefore start over on the porting). The 310 kit is not necessarily the "best" way to go. A well ported 250 or 265 on a stock cyinder will make alot of 310's look bad. The FMF pipe is not known for making good power on a modified motor. Flat power curves and low over-rev make it a choice for stock motors. Why did the water jackets have to be siliconed? Can I ask who did the work on this 250R. How much was he charged for the rebuild?

For $1500 he should be getting an aftermarket cylinder. It will be larger in diameter on the outside and more square than a stock 250R. The intake and the transfers (bottom of the cylinder looking up) will have obvious marks from the porting tools (grinder or dremel type marks). If it hasn't been ported it will have casting flash and will be rough with visible seams in the middle. Who is doing the work to it now? Somebody local?

Check out ESR for lots of cool 250R stuff. Or maybe CT Racing. There are lots of options when it comes to 250R aftermarket cylinders. Good Luck!
