Default Dyna CDI, anyone having a problem in 2005

I have heard people say that the Dyna CDI for the 2003 Prairie 650's are on back order due to the recent failures. I just ordered mine at a local chopper works store, it was $225.00 and will be here in five days,(no back order).

Has anyone recently purchased a Dyna CDI and had to return it due to a failure?

What should I expect for HP increase?

Thanks

offrdr15 - How did you put the "Check this Thread" link in your reply? Thanks!

I did have to return my Dyna. It failed a couple of weeks ago after about 20 miles. They tell me it will probably be middle of March before I get a replacement. It ran great before it failed! I have heard around 5 hp gain but I really don't know.

We now have 10 DYNA CDIs we run on our race team and they are great! We have not had problems since the new batchs came out! I still believe it is the single best cheapest mod we have made on all the Prairies and Brutes!

Prairiewrench, I'm glad to hear how reliable they have been for you. I can't wait to get my replacement! It was a different machine with the Dyna installed.

Got my first one (defective out of the box) a month ago. Still waiting for a replacement. Called Dyna last Friday and they told me they were shipping a bunch of warranty units out Mon, Tues, Wed of next week. They said they have made some upgrades so hopefully they found out why they have been failing and fixed it. I can't wait to get mine back. I have read so many great things about the product. After $250 out of pocket, a deffective unit out of the box and a month of waiting, I better have my nuts and bolts blown off once this thing is installed.

I just put a Dyna CDI on my FST Prairie 800 on Friday night, and got the chance to try it for the first time today. These CDIs really do make a difference, especially on the 800. Oh my god this Prairie was ripping today. I was loving it, ... for about a quarter of a tank of gas, ... then the Prairie just up and quit on me. It was dead in its tracks, and would not restart no matter what trick I tried, so I got the honor of walking 3 miles back to the truck. Thank goodness the Prairie was someplace that the truck could get to. When I got back home I put the stock CDI back in and the Prairie fired right up and runs fine.

So YES, Dyna still has a problem with their CDIs. I get to call them tomorrow and see what they will do about warranty.

TeamGreen800, make sure and keep us posted on what Dynatek had to say about the whole issue. I am trying to get word back on if they are going to let me test one out on the Brute 650, but they are giving me the run around. Pretty shady people if you ask me.
