AWD button not working?
#1
1995 425 Magnum 4x4: I just got this running and had it out yesterday engine seems strong but when I hit the AWD button nothing happened. I did some rewiring on the lights because they were all screwed up, so i'm thinking that maybe the AWD wiring is messed up too. I got this thing for $400 bucks, I can't complain too much. I've never owned a polaris before, should I hear anything engaging when I hit the AWD button? because i'm not hearing anything. I have four wires running out of the switch 1 yellow, 1 brown, 1 gray, 1 gray w/ white stripe. All 4 run into the box on the left side of the gas tank. Does this seem right?

According to my wiring diagram in the Haynes manual your four wires are as follows...
Yellow - Headlight
Brown - Ground wire for AWD indicator light
Grey - (English spelling ) Switch to front wheel drive coils and AWD indicator light.
Grey/white - AWD Switch to the over-ride switch and Trans switch.
Check the voltage at the front wheel drive coils (with the switch ON), between the end of the grey wire and a ground point - if there's no voltage you have a bust switch, if there's a voltage your coils are bust. Not sure how easy the latter would be to replace.
Good luck...

Thanks Polaris UK!!!! are you sure it's not gray? LOL, but where do the wires from the switch actually connect to. Mine run into the box on the left side of the gas tank, not sure of the name, not too good electrically. What is a good ground source by the way?
