Default 600 Problems .........

Hey Guys !
I have a couple of problems that I have already got on My 2004 Sp 600. Only 250 mile on this unit ... Any help is appreciated...

#1

While in Low Gear....It pulls off Good and hard ...but when it gets to higher rev....The RPMS just keep going but the Machine does not speed up....Almost like its Slipping...I took the Cover off...ITs all clean no water or signs of water...No visual signs of wear or damage to the belt ...I bought a new belt but it didn't look bad ...What could this be .....While in high it seemd to run normal....maybe a little less top end ....but can't tell....

#2

My reverse overide/insterment controls has stop working....it will not allow me to veiw my miles or tach..WhenI push the butten it does nothing......

Thanks For the Help !

PS I installed a K&N air filter ....And I can tell a little differance ...little more peppy!

Does your speedo work? Could be related to your problem... I know the speedo and display also house the brains for the reverse override and a lot of other things. On my sp600 the plastic ebs limiter nut came loose on the primary drive clutch, and the engine would just rev it's guts out, but It didn't seem to go as fast as it should. You can do a history search to find other posts about this same problem... it has been found on a lot of the twins for some reason. Other ideas... was your belt possibly wet? Did you just wash it at the car wash??? Just checking. By the way it took my dealer 2 weeks to find the loose ebs nut on mine! The day a polaris tech from Tx on here replied and told me what the problem, was the same day they finally found it too!

First in low gear, there is a rev limiter, are you sure you're not hitting the rev limiter and think it is still revving? You shouldn't be running that fast in low gear is thats what is happening....

Did you happen to modify the reverse override? Did you buy this unit new? One mod for these units is to put a bypass on the reverse override, to override the rev limiter in reverse. When you do this mod, it also causes the functions not to work. So if you can put in reverse and don't hit the rev limiter without holding the button in, then the machine may have the bypass installed, which in turn will cause it to not switch between the functions that are normally associated with the button...

sounds to me like your low gear is working fine!! should pull good and hard off the long to about 20 to 25 mph thats it... at 25 mph your engine is prolly screaming. thats all the faster these machines go in low gear

Default 600 Problems .........

Alright Fella's !!!
I Went riding all day on Sunday. I Think I figured out possble both of my problems. The Plug for that goes into my left hand control unit had some mud and mositure in it. I didn't have any air or spray to clean it . I cleaned it best I could and it started working corectly. I think that this was my problem. I just have to figure out a way to water proof that Plug ....Maybe some contact grease ...

Thanks for all the help !!!
