Im running a pro armor frame skid on mine right now. it mounts up nice, has a brushed aluminum finish, has no vibration noise against the frame to my knowledge, its super thick, and it looks nice with the sides that come up by the engine instead of bein just flat. ( I figure the bends add a little more strength also).
the only downside ive noticed so far is the hole for the oil drain is not exactly where it should be, i had to grind mine out a little bit with a dremel so the draining oil clears it.
hopefully that helps a little bit

Pro Armor for sure. I had an Alba on my 02 and the quality was no where near as nice.

I got the armadillo swing arm skid plate for my ds650x. I really like it, but before I bought it i didn't know that I had to take the spoket and rotor off to get the stock swing arm skid plate off. I know, I should have been aware of it. I am not in any way confortable with that job so I had to pay for an hour of labor ($90.00) to get it on. Total of $200 bucks. I hope it was worth it.

I've got the armadillo and for the crazy rocks I ride on, its been fine, doesnt come loose, and takes a beating. Putting the swingarm one on is a little challenging but the chasis one is easy. If you get the swingarm one let me know and I can tell you how to do it.
