Default Scrambler Clutch

I just purchased a 1999 scrambler 4x4 500HO. The previous owner said that it has a clutch kit in it. I was wondering how to find out more about how the clutch is set up now. It also has a Aaen Pipe and k & N filter. Other than that, I believe it is stock. I have picked up a head that I am going to port and try to get some bigger valves. I was wondering how much compression can I get away with on this motor and run super unleaded gas. I know on my 2 stroke I could run 190psi and use pump gas but I am not sure about 4 strokes.

in order to find out how the clutch is set up, youll need to inspect it. remove the cover and check it all out. colors of the primary and secondary springs. numbers on the weights in the primary. this will tell you how it was set up.

what x said on the clutch and for the comp we ran an 11.5 piston with milled and ported head and webcam camshaft. ran premium with octane boost. about 2oz per gal. ran great with no detonation.

Actually you may wantto leave the motor alone. The 500HO is almost as hot as you want in stock form.Ride it awhile before you do anything.

jeffro,
Where did you get the camshaft from? I have looked around but haven't seen many cams for the 500 HO.

easystroke, the cam came from aaen performance. its listed as the long duration ho cam. the cam alone doesn't make a lot of difference. you really need the porting and piston to get the full power out of it. i kept the cam when i sold the bike and its now in a stock 500 motor with pipe and jetting. don't really see much more power.
