skid plates

Default skid plates

my 05x came with aluminum skid plates my 03 baja came with plastic ones. do they realy protect your bike or are they for show? i took my plastic one off and have not had any problems just wanted to know before i stripped down the x.

I would get one for the 03. They will protect you motor and your chassis from damage. When trail riding it will protect against rocks and such. And in the dunes it will help glide you over the top of peaks.

It all depends what you ride on. If you ride rocky trails like me, they'll save you alot of repair cost. You should at least have one on the swingarm. For rough trails, put em on the chassis and a-arms too. I went riding one time with the OEM plastic ones on and big chunks were missing when I was done.
