Have any of you guys left the metal inner air filter off of your rancher? The damn thing is a pain in the **** to get back into the foam filter. Just curious.

I think that metal thing is to keep the filter from collapsing under the intake pressure. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to leave it off. I really don't think it's that big a deal to me, I mean, how often do you clean the air filter, maybe 3 or 4 times a year, max?

 

I know what he is talking about though. Once the filter is all oiled up its like wrestling a grease pig.

 

and the mouth of the metal housing is SHARP!!!!
