400Ex oil drain plug, stuck and not comming out
#2
My son stripped our 250's... I went to local Auto zone and got an assortment of plugs that wew slightly lager than original and aquired a tap for the one I decided to use and re-tapped...JUST BE CAREFUL to get it straight....stand the bike on it tail to do. If you don't get it straight it will leak....ALSO you may have to drill it slightly lager again be careful...There is not much material there to work with. The housing is thin and could crack if you work in haste!......this fixed mine

I'M sorry....Getting it out may be a trick...try CAREFULLY! a thin blade under the edge of the plug and unscrew....carefully putting pressure Down on the lip/ edge of the plug may allow a thread to catch and start unsrewing...just be careful that housing is thin there.
GOOD LUCK!

Is this on your 400ex? The oil plug on the engine on a 400ex is smaller than some and limits your options.
Craftsman makes a spanky new tool that is supposed to work well on such matters.

Maybe I wasnt clear in my description, the last person who changed the oil must have used an impact driver to install plug. It is tight and will not turn. My Snap-on socket just rounded the nut off. On a 400ex the plug is in an bad place and hard to get to the frame is in the way to use any type of wrench. I might try on Monday when we get back from riding the Sears thing or drill it out and use a screw extractor.
