1997 Xplorer 400: Should I add ebs?
#1
I seem to recall back in 1997 when I bought my machine that there was an option to add ebs. I didn't do this and have ridden my machine for 7 years now without it. I don't know if I'm getting old and squirly now or what but my back end seems to want to slide sideways more these days than I'm comfortable with upon braking down steep loose hills. Should I be thinking about adding ebs? It is available on my year and model right? How much should I expect to pay to have it added? Are there other better and/or cheaper options I should be considering? Thanks tons!

Its not recomended on two strokes, and if you are worried about the back end sliding out i would not recomend EBS because it will lock your wheels up on its own. Its about $400 and it should be available if you want it but i wouldn't recomend it.

Thanks for the input. It always seems to fish-tail to the left. I guess it could be terrain related but I tried to make sure it wasn't. Is there any way it could be brake related? Any other ideas anyone?

When I go down steep hils on my explorer or my snowmobile I stab the brakes in short sequences so the back don't slide, sometimes if you blip the throttle you can get clutches to shift down to lower gear when you are not on the brakes.

Yes, I have also found that those two suggestions help, just looking for more I guess. The problem does seem to be worse so far this year, but maybe it's just my imagination...
