TRX 300 4x4 cam plug and torque specs
#1
Hello all
My brother in law has a '95 trx 300 4x4 and it has a slight oil leak around the rubber cam plug that goes between the head and valve cover on the right side of the engine, can that plug just be pulled out and sealant put on it or does the valve cover have to be removed (like if the plug is flanged on the inside).
Also does any one know the torque specs for the valve cover bolts?
Thanks everyone Jeff

The cam seal can not removed without the valve cover...well actually the top of the head cover, the rockers are in this part of the cover. There is no gasket on the cover, just a small bead of silicon sealer. You can trace the sealer around both sides of the cam seal.
I don't have my manual here at the office but the standard torque setting for a 6mm bolt is 4 ftlbs.
With the cover off it's a good time to check the timing chain, also be sure you don't bump the timing/cam when you remove the cover. Not a big deal to retime if your not sure.
