Default 2005 700efi oil filter number question

Wondered it anyone can help me out. I have a 2005 700efi and I'm in the process of changing the oil. The factory installed filter is a 2540122 My dealer sold me a 2540006. The owners manual does not address the filter with any numbers. Anyone know for sure if the 2540006 is ok to use?
Thanks,

I don't know the correct Polaris part # but I have seen posts before about the oil filter. I think Wix makes one and NAPA. Check through the past threads and you will find some aftermarket oil filters that will do the same thing and cost half the price.

Polaris has changed it a few times (#).
The 254006 # is correct.

The wix is 51357.

Default 2005 700efi oil filter number question

Polaris has 2 different filters for the 05 700EFI's. Prior to build date October 8, 2004 is Napa #1357, wix 51357 Polaris # 2540122

Now Polaris has substituted 2540122 with 2540086 and that number cross's to Napa #1356 and Wix #51356

Thanks for your respones. I double checked with the service manager at my Polaris dealer. He said he didn't know why Polaris has changed the numbers so many times but added that as long as the replacing filter is as long as the original I will be ok. I bought two Polaris filters when I bought the ATV. I will most likely use the WIX filters, as suggested, after the two are used up. Again, Thanks!
