It replaces the front drive shaft assembly.

From what I understand it's fair straight forward to install.

i Know on hondas you have to notch the frame a bit.
theres a coller that slides over the shaft to engage the front diff, its run with a cable that you mount on your frnt rack

I dunno which honda's that refer's to but the one on my Forman 450 required no notching.

Basically it replaces the front driveshaft, which is stock one solid piece, with basically a 2 piece unit. When in 2wd mode, the front shaft is disconnected so no power goes to the wheels, when in 4wd mode, a collar joins the 2 shafts and delivers power to the front end just as the stock unit does. Its a nice sturdy unit, well built. I've had mine in for almost 3 years trouble free, you can shift any time any speed, AS LONG AS THE WHEELS ARE NOT SPINNING IN MUD.

I installed mine myself with basic hand tools (air tools just made the job faster, the instructions from WARN are fantastic which makes it a breeze to install when you follow them to the letter. Took me about 2 hours, really taking my time and cleaning stuff as I went.
