Thinking about buying a Kazuma 150 MK2
#1
Hi , I am thinking about buying a Kazuma 150 MK2 for my 15 year old son. We only ride in the sand dunes and I am concerned after reading on this forum about the power problems, starting problems, carb manifold problems, transfer case, ect. I have experience with atv's but my son does not and I thought at first this would be a great atv to learn on at a reasonalbe cost. Now I am thinking I should only go with yamaha, honda ect. Any thoughts on this or any owners of one of these atv's that have taken out one of these atv's on sand would be great. I am not looking for an atv's to blast up the biggest dunes but it need to be reliable and able to go over small hills and go well on the beach. Thanks in advance for you reply.

I dont own a kazuma 150 but, I would not recomend a yamoto 150 for the sand, not enough HP to get it done. Not sure if this helps or not.

I can honestly tell you that I made a mistake buying one. It has less than 2 hours on it and the chain tensioner has broken, it only goes 25 mph, the intake manifold broke at the carburator, I cant get parts, the rear shock has no compression/rebound only spring and the people I bought it from suck. I bought it online and Kazuma tells me to get the warranty work through my original dealer. Yeah good luck, Also it was damaged in the shipping crate and I never got reimbursed for that either. Kazuma has been terrible to work with and offered to replace some parts but charge me for shipping. Not the tensioner or the intake, just some transmission parts that havent broken YET. The 50cc meerkat is great, but the 150 mkIIs suck. The 110's might be a little better and are built completely different. Spend the extra money and invest in a quality product, Honda, Yamaha, etc. I have done nothing but throw away $1300.00 with this thing.

I sorry to hear about the problems you are having. BUT I WILL SAY IT AGAIN!!! It's all about the dealer you buy the bike from. There are a ton of guys out there selling them. People always look for the cheapest price. That's not always the best thing. I know many dealers that stand behind the bikes like are company and do whatever it takes to make things right. Even take back the units if people are not happy with them. But 95% of the companies out there just want the sale then your on your own. But I do have to tell you Mike I have had very good luck with the bikes. We are also about to bring in a few other bikes not made by Kazuma and from testing they are really standing up well. But again sorry about your trouble I really hope things work out!!!

If you are worried about quality and dont want to go the cheap rout then try the Polaris Trailblazer 250 at $3200 or the Pheonix at $2999. The Trailblazer is by far the best atv for the money. Very reliable, enough power to go anywhere, the most suspension travel out of all the sport quads. It is a great starter atv and even good for adults. If you dont want something with as much power and a little smaller then the phoenix is good. The honda 250ex is good but your talking 4k. Or you can wait to see what John gets in at Raceway. I have a Kazuma/Redcat 110 ands a Yamoto 110 . Both have been great for a year now. My son rides the crap out of the Yamoto and I have never had a problem.

I see the post originated in May so is a little dated, and was before I had my experience with the 150MKII. Id be interested in knowing if Toby bought the unit and had the same experience I did in the dunes. I did not have any of the aforementioned trouble with break downs and damage in shipping, and was fairly impressed with the bike for the money, and my experience with Raceway was positive. And the bike had plenty of power in the dunes, hauled my 200+ pounds up some decent hills (it was actually my daughters bike) but it HANDLED TERRIBLY IN THE SAND. Big time front end control issues.
So if Toby hasnt bought yet, and he wants something for the sand, my experience and recommendation is not to get the 150 MKII. Otherwise I think its a decent bike, and I would absolutely recommend buying from Raceway. I related my front end problems to John at Raceway, and although he didnt know exactly what may be the problem he was willing to work with me on parts/tires etc whatever it took to try and correct. I elected to get rid of it and got her a Unison. In my opinion thats part of the risk of buying something on the internet, and I didnt mind having to deal with it.

I must aggree with 2manytoys. Spend the extra money and buy a Brand name Quad. I own a MKII 150 and had nothing but trouble. If you ride on hard packed surfaces it is ok, however I owned mine less than eight months tried everthing to get it stable. My daughter has flipped hers twice on just going around a corner after hitting soft sand. The back brakes failed already. I am gonna sell it as soon as I can. We bought a Polaris Phoneix and cant be happier with it. The kazuma is now siting in our garage collecting dust. We wont even sell it to a friend. I was involved in a post awhile ago and many others were complaining about the kazuma being unstable. I put about $400 into the Kazuma and still am not satisfied with it. These things shouldnt break so quickly.
